WE Republicans

The West End Republicans will meet for its monthly social/dinner meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, at Cherry’s Family Restaurant in Kresgeville.

Golf tournament

Monroe County Habitat for Humanity is hosting its annual golf tournament at Great Bear Golf Club next Wednesday.

Pet blessing

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will hold its Pet Blessing service at 10 a.m., Oct. 1. with Father Simon at the St. Francis statue on the office side of the church.

Confirmation students in eighth grade will be on hand to offer treats, prayers, and a special gift for those pets.

Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is hosting its Blessing of the Pets event at 1 p.m., Oct. 2, in front of the parish hall (inside if it rains.) All animals and pets are welcome but must be appropriately caged or leashed.

PVAG two events

There are two events happening at Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, on Oct. 1.

At 9 a.m. it is the Brotherhood Breakfast for church affiliated folks. And, from 2 to 5 p.m., it is the Fall Festival, which is open to the community.

Grand opening

Ross Township Historical Society invites township residents and neighbors to the grand opening of the Ross Township Historical Society’s museum, at the former township municipal building at 258 Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg, being held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oct. 1.

The ribbon cutting will be at noon and light refreshments will be served. Photos of people and places, as well as artifacts from Ross Township’s heritage will be on display.

Benefit concert

A benefit concert for musician James Hummel will be held Oct. 1 at the Sherman Theatre in Stroudsburg. Doors open at 6 p.m. Featured will be Joey & the T-Birds and Lorri Kulp Woodward of the Lorri and James Duet.

Sportsmen’s Day

The Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club is hosting Sportsmen’s Day on Oct. 9 at 11 Gun Club Lane, Saylorsburg. There will be 33 prizes, plus two door prizes and include refreshments. Raffles are ongoing throughout the day.

Doors open at 11 a.m. while the activity is slated to run from 12:30 to 4 p.m.

The public is welcome.

Bird seed sale

Monroe County Conservation District’s Environmental Education Center has scheduled its Truckload Wild Bird Seed Sale for Oct. 22.

This year’s sale will once again feature Aspen Song Bird Seed Blends. Ordering deadline is Oct. 13.

One can obtain a complete order form by calling the center at 570-629-3061, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and some Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. One may also download the order form from the website: www.mcconservation.org.

In addition, the gift shop sells bird seed along with a wide variety of feeders and field guides year-round.

To be honored

Monroe County Habitat for Humanity’s volunteers are to be feted at the Volunteer Appreciation Event on Nov. 10, at Shawnee Inn. Volunteers’ meals are free. Others bear a cost, but are welcome.

Garden of Giving

The Garden of Giving will be planting garlic in October for next year. Volunteers are needed.

Volunteers are also needed for other positions.

The board is need of someone with secretarial skills for 3 to 4 hours, once a week. A person with the writing skills and drive to apply for grants would be wonderful as grants fund the Garden.
