State police list data on enforcement

State police at Bethlehem have released crash and enforcement data relating to their Labor Day safety initiative that took place between Sept. 2-5.

The Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement Education Program targeted drivers who aggressively operated their motor vehicle in a manner which was dangerous to members of the public.

During the enforcement period, troopers investigated 45 crashes and made 29 driving under the influence arrests.

The report, which has 2021 data in parentheses, includes:

• Total crashes, 45 (49 in 2021); fatal crashes, 1 (0); people killed, 1 (0); number killed wearing seat belts, 1 (0); persons injured, 8 (14); alcohol-related crashes, 6 (5); and alcohol-related fatal crashes, 1 (0).

• DUI arrests, 29 (28); speeding citations, 333 (367); child passenger seat citations, 10 (9); seat belt citations, 38 (24); occupant protection warnings for adults and children, 35 (44); other traffic citations, 993 (844); and self-initiated criminal arrests, 14 (28).
