Congressional candidate visits Lehighton

Republican Congressional Candidate Lisa Scheller visited Lehighton Wednesday to promote her endorsement from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Along with a representative from the chamber, which bills itself as the world’s largest business organization, Scheller visited Liberty Oil before attending the opening of the Carbon County Republican Committee’s new offices.

“Lisa’s commitment to leadership and to pro-business policy is impressive. She knows this firsthand as a business owner,” said Kevin Courtois, vice president of the Great Lakes Region for the U.S. Chamber.

Courtois said that Scheller has shown commitment to supporting low taxes and eliminating regulations he called unnecessary. He said she will support trade details opening new markets to American exporters, and domestic energy production.

Scheller is facing incumbent U.S. Rep. Susan Wild, D-Pa. 7, in November’s general election.

In accepting the Chamber’s endorsement, she blamed Wild for supporting policies that have fueled inflation and hurt local families.

“As I travel the district, we continue to gain momentum and I feel so energized by the Pennsylvanians who are ready for a change and looking for a representative that will vote for our communities - not for a political agenda,” Scheller said.
