Lots of fun around the area

Phil Vassar and Dave Bromberg lead a variety of entertainment events hitting local and regional venues over the next couple of weeks.

Vassar, a singer-songwriter who hit the country music scene in the later 1990s, will take the stage at Penn’s Peak.

Meanwhile, multi-instrumentalist Bromberg and his band will celebrate his 50 years in music with a show at the Mauch Chunk Opera House. The latter venue will also host comedian Adam Ferrara, among other highlights.

On the film front, fans of Italian horror should head to the Mahoning Drive-In Theater for the two-night Mondo Argento. In addition, the theater will hold its seventh Hell on the Highways event over three nights.

For those marking the days off their calendar since last November, Country Junction’s Great Pocono Pumpkin Festival returns Sept. 24.
