Applications are still being accepted to fill an empty seat on the Northern Lehigh School Board.

Residents of the school district have until 4 p.m. Wednesday to send their applications to Gale Husack, board secretary, Northern Lehigh School District, 1201 Shadow Oaks Lane, Slatington, PA 18080.

No telephone applications will be accepted. Letters may be mailed or delivered in person. Personal data, or a resume which will assist the directors in the interviews, should be included in the application.

Additionally, applicants may email their application materials to enehmeh@nlsd.org.

Last month, the school board on a 7-0 vote accepted the resignation of veteran Director Robert Keegan, Jr., effective Aug. 15.

In his resignation letter, Keegan said he resigned so that he could spend more time with his family.

Keegan had been a board member since 2014.

The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 12, at which time it will interview candidates for the position of school director, and vote on it later that night at that meeting.

Whomever is chosen to fill the vacancy will serve until December 2023. To serve beyond then, the candidate must run in the municipal election.
