Northern Lehigh School Board on Monday approved the following personnel matters:

Retirements

• Retirement of Alice Christman, cook’s helper, Northern Lehigh Middle School, effective Sept. 16 after 10 years of service; Elizabeth Flemming, middle school science teacher at Northern Lehigh Middle School, effective Aug. 31; Zachary Merkle, special education teacher at Northern Lehigh Middle School, effective at Aug. 22; Melissa Armbruster, office paraprofessional, Aug. 1; Sharon Kanas, cafeteria monitor at Slatington Elementary School, July 13; Tara Williams, cafeteria monitor, Slatington Elementary School, July 14; Megan Leadbetter, July 19; Patricia Bortz, cook’s helper, Northern Lehigh Middle School, June 6; and Amy Dobiee, paraeducator, Slatington Elementary School, July 29.

Appointments

• Angela Everett, short-term substitute, emotional support teacher, Peters Elementary, $150 a day, effective Aug. 23 with a termination date upon the return of a full-time teacher.

• Lynn Werley-Olesak, temporary professional employee, special education teacher, Slatington Elementary, $58,175, effective Aug. 23.

• Amber Wells, Slatington Elementary office paraprofessional, $14.29 an hour, 5.5 hours a day, effective Aug. 23.

• Allyson Reinert, districtwide licensed health room assistant, $25.42 an hour, 29.75 hours per week, effective Aug. 23.

• Megan Schmick, Slatington Elementary School, $15.91 an hour, 5.5 hours per day, effective Aug. 23.

• Alex Lee, second shift middle school custodian, $16.69 an hour, effective Aug. 24.

• Shawn Parisi, second shift maintenance, $19.03 an hour, effective Aug. 24.

• Crystal Schaller, Michele Hoffner, JoAnn Papay, Ashley Heyer, Charles Young, and Kelly Paules, cook’s helpers, $13.75 an hour, effective Aug. 24.

Administrative transfers

• Zachary Williams, temporary professional employee, special education math teacher, middle school, no change in salary, effective Aug. 23.

• Sheila Steier, from second shift custodian, middle school, to day shift custodian, middle school, effective Aug. 15.

• Lisa Hunt, from Slatington Elementary special education paraeducator to Slatington Elementary cafeteria monitor, $14.29 an hour, three hours per day, effective Aug. 23.

Other

• Debra Knerr and Jacqueline Schuck, administrative detention supervisors in the middle school; Knerr will cover the Monday detentions, while Schuck will cover the Wednesday detentions from 2:20-3:20 p.m. They will work throughout the 2022-2023 school year on Mondays and Wednesdays that warrant detention coverage at a salary of $20 per hour worked.

• Tina Yocum, substitute secondary detention monitor, senior high school, 2022-2023 school year, on an as-needed basis, at a salary of $20 per hour worked.

• Kay O’Donnell, substitute custodian worker, 2022-2023 school year at the 2022-2023 substitute rates.

• Lisa Hunt, substitute secretary and/or substitute paraprofessionals, 2022-2023 school year.

• Margaret Blose, Rhonda Frantz, Sharon Karpiszin, and Melissa Wagner, unpaid volunteer districtwide for the 2022-2023 school year.

• Jay Ohland and Megan Fink, districtwide permanent substitute teachers for the 2022-2023 school year, at a daily per diem rate of $150, along with district health benefits according to the Affordable Care Act regulations with co-payment amounts equivalent to that of district personnel.

• Acknowledged that Sarah Fink, from Step 5B to Step 5B+24; Shelby Bailey, from Step 7B to Step 7M; and Jennifer Butz, from Step 16M+ to Step 16D, have completed the requirements per the Collective Bargaining Agreement that would entitle them to a salary increase for the 2022-2023 school year.

• Joseph Tout, assistant athletic director, 2022-2023 school year, $3,500.
