Towamensing supervisors

Towamensing Township supervisors conducted the following business:

• A motion was made for the solicitor to start litigation for an injunction and padlock the building at 1735 Strohl Valley Road due to numerous short-term rental violations.

• The final plans for Jim and Eileen Schneider’s request to combine three lots will be signed by Supervisor Guy Seifert, as all conditions have been met and all fees paid.

• Allison Chase, president of the Towamensing Soccer Club, thanked the township for its support as 130 children have signed up for fall soccer. She noted there is growth of the younger population divisions.

• Joe Rentko from Black Forest engineering was representing the new owners of the mini mart in Lakeside Plaza to discuss that further plans and signatures are needed.

• A resolution for an Emergency Operation Plan was approved. Signatures are needed which will allow one supervisor to call or fax the 911 center for emergencies such as storm warnings. A new emergency coordinator will be appointed. In the meantime Tom Newman will fill in as assistant for the short term.

• Three old balers will be put on Municibid, with a $500 reserve.

• A motion was approved to advertise the bid package for diesel/heating oil and road material.

• The historical society is looking for new members. Member Mary Beth Beers has moved and Roy Christman has drafted a letter to honor her, which was signed at the meeting.

• The next meeting of the board of supervisors will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 1.
