Carbon County Fair begins Monday

They work together to keep the tradition alive and well at the Carbon County Fair.

The 22nd annual event takes place Monday through Saturday along Little Gap Road in Palmerton.

It will be open from 4-10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 2-10 p.m. Saturday.

The cost of admission is $7 for those 6 years and older.

New fair President Malinda Fox is ready to take over the reins from her father, Robert Silliman, who last year wrapped up his 21-year run serving in that position.

Fox, who has been involved with the fair organization for many years as the chairwoman for the chance auction, said her main goal for this year is to get more youth involvement with their organization.

She noted that with the inflated cost of fuel this year, visitors should take advantage and explore the local events.

“The 22nd annual Carbon County Fair is the perfect place to bring your family and enjoy all we have to offer,” Fox said. “We boast a family-friendly environment in an old-time country fair setting.”

Fox said the fair will “showcase great musical entertainment and amazing Midway shows, (so) be sure to check out the mud slinging demo derbies and racing chain saws featured in the arena.”

“We will have plenty of agriculture on display as the 4-H Clubs showcase their livestock, and don’t forget to browse the exhibits of crafts, baked goods, photography and more,” she said. “Your mouth will water as the aroma of all the Midway foods tempt your taste buds.

“The kids will love all the animals on display and can enjoy thrilling rides and even win a souvenir at one of the many Midway games. So come on out and enjoy all the fun food and entertainment we have to offer.”
