Franklin Township’s Parker Rodgers had four hits and knocked in four runs to help the East team outscore the West, 26-14, in the annual Panther Valley Little League 12-year-old all-star game.

Every player on the East squad - 15 in all - either had a hit, scored a run, or collected an RBI. The winners, who were the visitors on the scoreboard, tallied five runs in the opening inning and never trailed.

The East squad was made up of players from Franklin Township, Towamensing and Jim Thorpe, while the West team was comprised of the top players from Tamaqua and Anthracite.

Brayden Ulshafer, also from Franklin Township, enjoyed a good day at the plate by going 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI. Jim Thorpe’s Anthony Kiehl contributed a pair of doubles, two runs and an RBI, while Thorpe teammate Tyler Hoherchak finished with two hits, scoring three times and knocking in a run.

The East also received a two-hit effort from FT’s Chase Llewellyn, who added a pair of runs and two RBIs. Franklin’s Alex Bedocs, Towamensing’s TJ Weller and Thorpe’s Spencer Gothard all chipped in with a hit and two runs scored.

The winners used one pitcher every inning. Kiehl worked a scoreless, hitless third frame, while Hoherchak didn’t allow a run and struck out two in the eighth.

For the West all-stars, Tamaqua’s Ryder Holmerg finished 2-for-3 with a pair of runs and two RBIs. Tamaqua teammate Mason Evans added two hits and a run, while Nico Conahan - also from Tamaqua - chipped in with a hit and three runs.

The West team also received a double, two runs and an RBI from Tamaqua’s Jacob Fritzinger.

Anthracite’s Gabe Perilla tossed three innings, allowing no earned runs while striking out six.
