Adoptions

Did you know you can adopt a Lehigh Valley Zoo animal?

Visit www.shoplvzoo.com/adopt to view animals up for symbolic adoption.

All proceeds from the adopt purchases go directly toward animal education and conservation efforts at Lehigh Valley Zoo.

Every symbolic adoption comes with a photo of your adopted animal, a fact sheet about the animal, either an adult or two children zoo tickets, a stuffed animal and a personalized certificate of the adoption.

Current animals include the mongoose lemur, leopard tortoise, Mexican gray wolf, red kangaroo, Linnaeus’ sloth, Masai giraffe, American bison and African penguin.

Fiesta en el Zoo

Enjoy an evening of music, dancing, food and adult beverages among the animals at the first-ever Fiesta en el Zoo fundraiser on Aug. 6, from 5-9 p.m.

Come dance to music of the Latin culture with live performances by The Lehigh Valley Urban Latin Orquesta. Also, treat yourself to authentic cuisine vended by the Puertorrican Cultural Preservation Inc. as well as Geakers Tacos. Attendees who are 21 and older will have the opportunity purchase a variety of adult beverages.

Animals will be out for the first part of the evening but will start getting shifted into their indoor habitats 1 hour before sunset.

Run Wild

Run, hop, waddle or slither on over to sign up for Run Wild.

The Lehigh Valley Zoo’s Run Wild 5K/10K for Animal Conservation supported by PPL Corporation is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and helps to support animal conservation.

The Zoo’s Run Wild takes place Aug. 14. The 5K will start at 8:30 a.m. with the 10K at 8:45 a.m. with award ceremonies to follow.

Sunny Garden Party

How does a tiny seed turn into a beautiful sunflower?

This is just one question local author Tassia Schreiner explores in her newest book “Sunny: A Story of Life and Love,” which will be read by the author herself at this very special conservation story-time event.

The event goes from 11 a.m. to noon at Preston’s Place inside the zoo. Your ticket also covers your zoo admission for the day.

Learn about the life-cycle of a sunflower as the author reads, discuss native plant conservation after the reading with a special guest from Edge of the Woods Nursery, and receive a special goody bag filled with supplies to start your own garden at home.

Tickets are limited for this private event. Parents are encouraged to purchase standard zoo admission so that Sunny Garden Party tickets can be made available for our younger guests, recommended for ages 4-12.

Guests are invited to bring a cushion or blanket to make seating in our garden area more comfortable.

To order tickets, visit www.lvzoo.org/sunnygardenparty.
