State police at Bethlehem - crashes

State police at Bethlehem reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.

• On July 26 at 7:02 p.m. a crash was reported along Route 145 in North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County. Troopers said Georgia L. Wiswesser, 19, of Walnutport, was driving a 2016 Toyota Corolla northbound while John P. Giammarino, 64, of Port Jeff Station, New York, was driving a 2021 Honda Accord southbound.

Wiswesser fell asleep at the wheel with her vehicle crossing over into the southbound lane. Giammarino attempted to avoid a collision and moved to the right.

The Corolla sideswiped the Accord. The Corolla continued on and struck an uphill embankment along the berm, and overturned onto the driver’s side and then its roof.

Wiswesser sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. Giammarino was not injured. Both vehicles had to be towed. Wiswesser was cited for careless driving.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 9 p.m. on July 19 along Main Street in Washington Township, Lehigh County.

Troopers said Tara N. Frye, 30, of Slatington, was driving a 2006 Chrysler SRT 8 westbound when the vehicle went onto the south berm and struck guide rail. Frye then drove in a northwestern direction and struck an embankment where it came to rest against a utility pole and PennDOT sign.

Frye then fled the scene. She was located and charged with accidents involving damage.
