Carbon County court

A total of five defendants who failed to appear at the Carbon County prison to begin serving a prison term imposed by the county court, entered guilty pleas on Tuesday.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic presided.

Megan Creveling, 24, of Palmerton, pleaded in two pending cases to one count each of default in required appearance and flight to avoid apprehension.

She was sentenced to a prison term and ordered to report on Feb. 21, 2020. She failed to show.

On March 26, 2022, Lansford police attempted to serve an arrest warrant on her. She fled the residence by jumping out a rear window in the home. She was eventually apprehended. She is currently an inmate in the county prison serving the original sentence.

On both counts she was placed on probation for two years, with the terms running concurrently.

She was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use and supply a DNA sample. The term runs concurrent to the sentence she is serving for DUI.

Dale Neal Schleicher III, 42, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of default in required appearance. He was sentenced to a prison term and failed to show on March 29 as ordered.

Nanovic placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation.

He is currently an inmate in the county prison on other charges. It was noted he has five pending DUI cases.

Patrick Herbert Jr., 46, of Berwick, Columbia County, pleaded to one count of default in required appearance. He failed to report to the prison on March 22 to begin a jail term.

Nanovic placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation.

He is currently an inmate in the county prison serving the original jail term.

Kenneth Michael Greenfield, 52, of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count of default in required appearance. He failed to appear at the county prison on April 18 to begin serving a prison term as ordered.

Nanovic placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use.

Anthony Tyrone Bernardo, 48, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of default in required appearance. He failed to appear at the prison on June 2, 2021, to begin a prison term.

He was sentenced to serve 3 to one day less 24 months in prions and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use.

He will begin serving the prison term on Aug. 5 at 9 a.m. and serve it consecutive four-day weekends.

ARD placement

Rebecca Racz, 43, of Effort, was placed in the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program for a year on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Jan. 20, 2020, by state police at Lehighton.

She was assessed $650 for the cost of the program and license suspended for 60 days.

If she successfully completes all conditions of the program her record will be wiped clean. However, if she failed to complete it, or is revoked from it, then she will face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

All defendants must also pay court costs of over $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation.
