Panther Valley Pre-K class starting in Coaldale

Panther Valley School District and Lehigh Valley Children’s Centers have announced that they will offer pre-kindergarten in Coaldale.

Two pre-K classrooms will open for the 2022-23 school year at the Coaldale Complex, 138 W. High St.

Pre-K classes take place during the school year, five hours a day. Transportation is provided within the school district.

The district is committed to providing high-quality pre-kindergarten, which is shown to lead to greater academic and social-emotional outcomes for students.

“It is a priority of the district to try to offer pre-kindergarten services within our own district,” Panther Valley Elementary School Principal Robert Palazzo said. “PVSD and LVCC operated a successful pre-kindergarten program at the elementary school this past school year and we look forward to offering the program to even more students within the district. Unfortunately, there are no additional spaces for classrooms at the elementary school.”

Students who turn 3 on or before Oct. 1, 2022, and are not yet eligible for kindergarten enrollment, are eligible to register for pre-kindergarten. Household income must fall at or below 300 percent of the federal poverty level (about $77,250 for a family of four).

An open enrollment event will be held Wednesday, Aug. 10 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the complex. Families are invited to tour the spacious classrooms.

Coaldale Borough recently completed remediation efforts of the Complex and updated air quality testing.

Additionally, the borough renovated classrooms with mini-split air conditioning and heating units, new flooring and more.

Families coming to register should bring a child’s birth certificate, W2 or 1040 tax form and 3 pay stubs, parent/guardian’s photo ID, bill with current address, child’s health physical, child’s immunization record and child’s medical insurance card.
