Local Roundup: Results from July 21

Berlinsville rolled past Roseto in Blue Mountain League action on Thursday, while Towamensing also enjoyed a big night offensively in posting a Panther Valley Little League tournament victory.

Noah Snisky had a big day at the plate to help lead Berlinsville to a decisive 18-2 Blue Mountain League victory over Roseto.

The Jim Thorpe graduate went 4-for-5, scored three runs, stole two bases and also knocked in a run.

Snisky was one of many Braves players to enjoy success offensively. Austin Mueller collected four hits, scored twice and finished with six RBIs, while Jack Chapman had three hits - one of them a grand slam during a six-run sixth inning.

The Braves received three hits, two runs and three RBIs from Owen Fischl, with Luke Russo also joining in the 22-hit parade with three knocks, two runs and a couple stolen bases. Ben Gagnon chipped in with a triple and two RBIs.

Starting pitcher Griffin Coyne tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, to earn the win.

For the Bandits (4-23), Nick Cisack spoiled the shutout bid by hitting a two-run homer in the seventh.

The win lifted Berlinsville’s record to 11-17.

Jim Thorpe

Brody Mertz had three hits and knocked in three runs as Towamensing pulled away from Jim Thorpe to gain a 20-10 victory in the Panther Valley Little League tournament.

The winners, who scored the game’s final eight runs to break open a close contest, also received three hits and three runs from both Charlie Berger and Zack Zelinsky.

For Thorpe, Melo Torres had two hits, two runs and an RBI, while Jackson Englebert also collected a pair of hits and scored twice. Cam Moyer chipped in with two hits and an RBI.
