Business donates to community organizations

A Lehighton businessman has taken it upon himself to give back to the community that has supported him over the years.

Tarone Blocker, owner of Blocker’s Collision Center Inc., Lehighton, presented a pair of donations during Monday’s borough council meeting.

The Lehighton Fire Department was given $1,000, while the Lehighton Area Memorial Library was given $500. The Carbon County Fair was also slated to receive $500.

Blocker, who was joined by his grandson, Trenton, and longtime employee Ken Rohlfing, noted that the business has “survived” all this time.

He also lauded its “longevity” in the community, and said the donations were in response to the business celebrating its 75th anniversary.

“We’re trying to give back to the community for everything they’ve done,” Blocker said.
