Local roundup: Results from July 6

The Berlinsville Braves rolled to another victory in Blue Mountain League action on Wednesday.

BLUE MTN. LEAGUE

Berlinsville-Roseto

Luke Russo tossed a one-hit shutout in his Berlinsville debut to lead the Braves to a 16-0 win over Roseto in a Blue Mountain League contest.

Russo tossed seven shutout innings, allowing one hit while striking out seven and surrendering just three walks for the Braves (9-13). Russo carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning with one out, when Stew Caladie of the Bandits (3-15) broke up the no-hitter.

Jim Thorpe graduate Noah Snisky was 4-for-6 with two RBIs and three runs scored for the Braves, who pounded out 16 hits. Shane Fillman was 4-for-6 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored, while Colin Houck (RBI, stolen base) and Zach Day (double, two RBIs, run scored) each added two hits.

9-11 TOURNAMENT

Tamaqua-Valley West

Valley West eliminated Tamaqua from the District 18 9-11-year-old Little League Tournament with a 14-4 victory.

With the win, Valley West moves on to face Jim Thorpe on Friday.

Mason Evans had two singles for Tamaqua, while Chance Makovec and J.J. Oakes each doubled. T.J. Hartman, Ryder Holmberg and Chayse Smith also added hits.
