Carbon County court — ARD

Nine first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Monday by Judge Steven R. Serfass.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record will be wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

All were placed for a year on DUI charges.

Damian Ryan Burak, 23, of Albrightsville, was arrested on Sept. 12, 2021, by state police at Lehighton for DUI of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.

Elijah Nazir Be Newsome, 24, of Bethlehem, was arrested on May 31, 2021, by state police at Lehighton for DUI of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.

Joshua A. Ryder, 33, of Palmerton, was arrested on March 2, by Palmerton police for DUI of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.

Kevin T. Steigerwalt, 59, of Coplay, Lehigh County, was arrested on March 5, by Palmerton police for DUI of alcohol.

He was assessed $600 and license suspended for 60 days.

Angela L. Fritzinger, 58, of Lehighton, was arrested on Dec. 14, 2021, by Jim Thorpe police for DUI of a controlled substance.

She was assessed $650 and license suspended for 60 days.

Karina Montero, 30, of West Hazleton, was arrested on May 15, 2021, by state police at Lehighton for DUI of a controlled substance.

She was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.

Alexander A. Eastlack, 26, of West Depford, New Jersey, was arrested on Sept. 12, 2021, by state police at Lehighton for DUI of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.

Melissa Marie Levan, 48, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Dec. 4, 2021, by state police at Lehighton for DUI of alcohol.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.

Brandy Anne Maleski, 27, of Shoemakersville, Berks County, was arrested on May 19, 2021, by state police at Fern Ridge for DUI of alcohol.

She was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.

All defendants must also pay court costs of over $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
