Carbon County residents are reminded that Mauch Chunk Lake is a great attraction for the summer swimming season.
On Thursday, Commissioner Chris Lukasevich said that while the swimming season has begun at the lake, residents should consider it as a destination to beat the heat.
He pointed out that season passes for a family of four living in Carbon County are $50, while daily rates for adults are $3, children over the age of 3 is $2 and children under 3 are free, as well as seniors over age 65 are free.
“It is a great bargain for county residents,” Lukasevich said.
In other matters, Lukasevich spoke about the parking revenue, which supports Mauch Chunk Lake Park.
For the first six months of 2022, parking revenue has increased at county-owned parking in Jim Thorpe by 16 percent over 2021.
He noted that the parking lot has been averaging $1,728 a day, and actually jumps to $2,550 a day in the summer season.
