Pocono Mountain Regional Police said the burglaries took place at car sales and service businesses. In each case, the thieves broke into the business and stole the keys to vehicles that were located in their lots and stole the vehicles.

The series of burglaries culminated on June 22 when police were called to investigate a broken down Audi SUV on Route 196. Police determined the Audi was stolen from Precision Auto, Mount Pocono, with witnesses having identified Burks and one of the juveniles as the thieves.

While they were investigating the stolen Audi case, they were called to A Pocono Country Place where a Ford Focus was reported stolen. Police said the homeowner described the two males who were seen in the driveway stealing the Focus as Burks and one of the juveniles.

Police saw Gary, who was hiding a juvenile in the house. They later were able to get the boy out of the home, and saw Burks jump out of a window in the home and run away from it.

He was apprehended later at his mother’s residence in the Snowshoe Condominiums development. Police obtained a search warrant and ultimately obtained evidence linking Burks to many of the crimes.
