An award-winning local high school newspaper has achieved its latest accolade.
Superintendent Matthew J. Link acknowledged members of the Northern Lehigh High School newspaper, The Slate, at Monday’s school board meeting.
Link noted that The Slate received first place for Best Overall Scholastic newspaper for schools with 500 students and fewer from the American Press Association.
“They give out first-place awards to 10 different regions in the country; we won for our region,” Link said. “This is pretty remarkable considering that they were competing with over 750 other small high schools in the country, so congratulations to all of this year’s high school newspaper staff, and Mr. (Christopher) Barnes, their faculty adviser.”
Link said this marks the second year that The Slate won first place in its region.
