Local Roundup: Results from June 6

The Birches and Palmerton’s Connie Mack team both posted wins in action on Monday.

NORCO LEGION

Nazareth-Birches

Ryan Kymer’s squeeze bunt in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a tie and eventually gave the Birches a 2-1 Northampton County Legion victory over Nazareth.

Nate Loch led off the home sixth with a walk, and Dom Payan was hit by a pitch. One out later, Kymer laid down a bunt to plate Loch with the go-ahead run.

Nate Mostosky gained the pitching win, allowing six hits and one run in six innings of work. Mostosky, who didn’t issue a walk and struck out four, needed help in the seventh inning. After giving up a leadoff double, Ben Mostosky relieved and retired three consecutive batters to preserve the victory.

The Birches received hits from Jake Gethen, N. Mostosky and Shane Knappenberger, who also scored a run.

South Parkland-

Northern Valley

Jaiden Wanamaker and Evan Brandt combined on a two-hitter to lead South Parkland to a 6-0 Lehigh Valley Legion victory over Northern Valley.

Starter Wanamaker allowed both hits and struck out six in five innings, while Brandt tossed the final two frames.

Luke Meehan and Sean Superka both hit homers for the winners. Meehan drilled a three-run blast in the first inning, and Superka added a two-run shot in the third.

Northern Valley (2-1) received hits from Cole Hausman and Morgan LaBuda.

Tamaqua

The Tamaqua Blue Sox managed just one hit in a 6-0 Schuylkill-Berks loss to Schuylkill Valley.

The winners plated four runs in the first inning, with three Tamaqua errors contributing to the scoring.

Schuylkill starter Justin Sickle tossed three hitless frames, striking out seven. Luke Keitsock and Aiden Elo both finished with two hits and a run.

The only hit for the Blue Sox (0-2) was a single by Ryan Vecolitis.

Emmaus-Palmerton

Palmerton rolled to an 11-0 Lehigh Valley Connie Mack League victory over Emmaus, thanks to strong pitching and a big offensive output.

Matthew Domski didn’t allow a hit and struck out three in three innings, while Mason George and Trevor Stroup each allowed a hit in completing the shutout.

Stroup had two hits, one a double, and knocked in two runs, while Domski doubled, scored twice and had two RBIs. Derek King added a pair of hits and a run, with Nate Steinmetz contributing a single, double, two runs and an RBI.

The Blue Bombers (2-2) also received a triple and two RBIs from Dalton Rumfield. Trey Sterling chipped in with a hit, drove home two, and scored twice.

Franklin Township-

South Parkland

A late surge helped South Parkland post a 5-3 win over Franklin Township in Lehigh Valley Connie Mack play.

Julian Santiago had three hits, one a double, and a run for South Parkland. William Dobil added two doubles, while Jonathan Laskoski recorded a pair of singles. Muhammad Curtis tossed two scoreless innings of relief to earn the mound win.

Carter Birnbaum was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for FT, which tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the fifth inning, while Adam Bastone (run, walk) and Cameron Gable also added a pair of singles. Noah Barndt and John Light both chipped in with a hit and a run.
