Slatington KeyBank branch to close

A second bank on Main Street in Slatington plans to close before the end of the year.

KeyBank’s branch at 502 Main St., will be consolidated with its Whitehall branch at 271 Macarthur Road on Dec. 2, according to Karen Crane, senior communications manager.

Crane said a letter was sent out on May 19 to its Slatington branch clients notifying them of the consolidation.

“KeyBank realizes that the way clients interact with our branches is changing, and we have seen a steady increase in client preference for digital banking,” Crane said.

“KeyBank is continually looking into how we can better serve our clients and allow them to bank how they want and when they want.

“To that end, we are continuing to make investments in digital and mobile capabilities, and in the expansion of our ATM network through a partnership with AllPoint to meet these changing needs. At the same time, we are optimizing our branch network through the strategic locations of our branches.

“Our branches are and always will be a source of strength for KeyBank, and our branch network and teammates are a critical way we differentiate KeyBank throughout Eastern Pennsylvania.”

Nearby KeyBank branches are located at 4421 Lehigh Drive in Walnutport and 904 Blakeslee Blvd. Drive E. in Lehighton.

KeyBank’s Slatington branch is the latest in a long line of branches set to close locally since the pandemic began.

On the same stretch, Wells Fargo & Co. will close its 541 Main St., Slatington, branch Aug. 3.

KeyBank’s Kresgeville Branch at 543 Interchange Road closed on April 1, with all customer accounts automatically transferred to KeyBank’s Lehighton Branch at 904 Blakeslee Blvd. Drive E.
