Carbon officials pick up people on warrants

On May 13, the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office in coordination with the Carbon County Drug Task Force, which includes members of the Pennsylvania Attorney Generals’ Office and other local Law Enforcement Officers, participated in a warrant round-up throughout Carbon County.

Targets in this operation were mainly suspects with drug related charges:

• Phillip McArdle, 32, was apprehended in the borough of Jim Thorpe. Charges include possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication device, possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia. Also charged with possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of communication device, possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia are Edward Savage, 44; Cody Moser, 29; Beth Hosier, 38, and Daniel Giniewski, 24.

• James Frederick, 66, was apprehended in the borough of Lansford. Charges include simple possession.

• Joshua Frey, 34, was apprehended in Mahoning Township. Charges include two counts of DUI-controlled substance.

• Stephen Griffith, 28, was apprehended in East Penn Township. Griffith was wanted on a bail revocation warrant. Original charges were for aggravated assault.

• Francis Chambers, 35, was apprehended in the borough of Summit Hill for failing to appear at the Gagnon hearings. Original charges were for possession with intent to deliver and delivery of firearm after check. People in the residence attempted to conceal Chambers in an attic crawlspace, but he was apprehended and was in close proximity to other firearms. These items were turned over to the Summit Hill Police Department who will investigate and determine if Chambers will be charged. A woman who attempted to conceal Chambers will also be charged with hindering the apprehension of a fugitive for her role in the incident.

Two other people with outstanding warrants were also determined to be in custody in other locations and will be extradited back to Carbon County when their charges are disposed of in those other jurisdictions:

• Daniel Fink, 39, is in custody in New Jersey. Charges include possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication device, possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia.

• Andrew Beitler, 35, is custody in Lehigh County.

Charges include possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication device, possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia.

Sheriff Dan Zeigler said that this was an excellent example of how collaborative Law Enforcement efforts can work towards a common goal of making our communities safer by apprehending those who put drugs on our streets.

Zeigler also commends all of the officers, agents and deputies who participated in this operation for their professionalism and commitment to improving safety in our communities.
