Carbon County court — ARD

Five first-time offenders were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program last week by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record will be wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

Placed were the following:

Tyler Victor Burak, 20, of Albrightsville, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on Sept. 12, 2021, in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton.

He was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

John A. Hendricks, 21, of Albrightsville, was place for a year on a driving under the influence of a controlled substance charge. He was arrested on Oct. 15, 2021, by state police at Fern Ridge along Route 534 in Penn Forest Township.

He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Jesse Allen Horrocks, 40, of Thomasville, Georgia, was placed for a year on a DUI of alcohol charge. He was arrested on July 20, 2021, by state police at Lehighton along Forest Inn Road in Lower Towamensing Township. A test revealed a 0.17 BAC.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.

Neal A. Doshi, 28, of Somerset, New Jersey, was placed for a year on a theft charge. He was arrested on Dec. 27, 2021, by state police at Lehighton to stealing a snowboard at the Blue Mountain Ski Area in Lower Towamensing Township. The board was recovered.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and stay off the Blue Mountain property for a year.

Jonathan David Hineline, 33, of Palmerton, was placed for six months on a charge of accident involving damage or attended vehicle or property (hit and run). He was arrested on Nov. 30, 2021, by Franklin Township police for his part in a crash along Interchange Road at the McCall Bridge involving two vehicles, one a school bus.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of over $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
