Veterans ceremony

The Polk Township Veterans Memorial Commission will be honoring local veterans at an unveiling ceremony at 2 p.m. May 29 at the Veterans Memorial, 135 Trach Road, Kresgeville.

The Polk Veterans Commission has been gathering names of local veterans for the new plaque since 2019. The 2022 unveiling ceremony will highlight the installation of the new plaque and includes the names of hundreds of Polk Township veterans who served from WWII to present day.

The Veterans Memorial was built and dedicated in 1996 on land donated by the Strausberger family who lost their son, Whitey B., in the Vietnam War.

The 2022 unveiling ceremony program will last about one hour and will be followed by a short reception.

Attendees are reminded to bring lawn chairs as there is no seating available, arrive 15 minutes early and in the event of inclement weather, the event will be inside Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran church.

For more information one is asked to email polktwpmemorial@gmail.com.
