W. Penn looks at second dumpster for recycling

A second bin could be added to West Penn Township’s recycling program.

Supervisor Tim Houser said there’s been a constant concern that the recycling bin isn’t enough, and said there would be interest in a second dumpster.

Earlier, Assistant Fire Chief Connor Evans asked if the township would be willing to mow the grass at the fire station. It was asked if the township’s road crew would be willing to do the work.

Evans said he would be in favor of a second bin, but added there are a few things that haven’t been completed yet, such as cameras and more lighting for the nighttime hours.

Houser noted that while the recyclables are hauled away for free, it’s still costing the township money.

Board Chairman Tony Prudenti said he would like to see someone from the fire company attend every township meeting.

The board agreed to spend up to $1,000 for a light and some cameras at the fire station.

The township’s recycling program has received solid feedback since its July inception.
