2022 primary election: Lehigh balloting includes committee candidates
Voters in Lehigh County will elect people in the Democratic and Republican parties to serve the county as members of their respective parties’ state committees when the primary election is held on Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Seven Democrats from the county, including three males, three females and one of either gender, will be elected to the Pennsylvania Democratic Committee in at-large voting in each of the county’s precincts.
The candidates are Carmen A. Bell, Matt Lo, Danielle Shackelford, April Riddick and Yamelisa Taveras, all of Allentown, Jamie Johnson of Fountain Hill, David Harrington, Lower Milford Township, Murat Guzel of Lower Macungie Township and Aidan Levinson and Lori McFarland, both of Upper Milford Township.
Meanwhile, three people from Lehigh will be elected to serve on the Pennsylvania Republican State Committee. The at-large voting (every district) will see voters select one male, one female and one person of either gender to those positions.
The candidates are Blake Marles of Lower Macungie Township, Andy Roman of Whitehall Township, Glenn Eckhart of Salisbury Township and Linda J. Swankoski of North Whitehall Township.
Lehigh County also has four other seats on the state GOP committee, including one male and one female from Allentown and one male and one female from Upper Macungie Township. In Allentown, Donna Daday and Robert Daday are unopposed, while in Upper Macungie, Sean Gill and Bernadette Comfort are also unopposed.
Lehigh County voters are also slated to elect two people (one male and one female) to serve as Democratic and Republican committee members each of the respective districts.

Lowhill Township: Anna E. Nestor.
Lynn Township, New Tripoli: Paula Klein and William J. Klein.
Washington Township, Eastern District: Josh B. Friebolin.
Weisenberg Township: Robert Elbich and Margie Ann Ohern.
There are no Democratic committee candidates in the following Times News area districts: Slatington, first, second and third districts, Lynn Township, Lynnville, Lynn Township, Jacksonville, and Washington Township, Southern and Western districts.
Republicans
Slatington, Second District: Zachari R. Halkias and Barbara A. Halkias.
Heidelberg Township: Teena Bailey.
Lowhill Township: Claire F. Kukielka.
Lynn Township, Lynnville: Perry Long and Frederick K. Najarian.
Washington Township, Southern District: Lauren Ganser.
There are no Republican committee candidates in the following Times News area districts: Slatington, first and third districts; Lynn Township, Jacksonville, Lynn Township, New Tripoli, Washington Township, Eastern and Western districts, and Weisenberg Township.
