N. Lehigh students win Team Spirit Award in manufacturing contest

Northern Lehigh Middle School students are Cool.

That’s thanks in large part to their participation in the Lehigh Valley What’s So Cool About Manufacturing contest.

Superintendent Matthew J. Link congratulated members of the Northern Lehigh Middle School What’s So Cool About Manufacturing team who won the Team Spirit Award for the second year in a row.

Members of the team were Olivia Schaeffer, Evelina Mayak, Kylee Snyder, Landon Rosado, Samantha Mack and Adriana Danyluk.

“I don’t know if any of you have watched it on television, or actually have been there in person, but it’s really like the Grammys for these middle school kids because they go above and beyond for how they recognize the students, their teacher coaches; our teacher coach was Mary Frank from the middle school, and they really do it up right for these students, the coaches, and the students’ family,” Link said. “So, if you have an opportunity, I recommend that you go onto the website just to check out some of the highlights. The CLIU also posted a highlight reel and interviewed a couple of our students on their highlights.”

Frank said the team paired with Piramal Critical Care Inc., an inhalation anesthesia manufacturer located in Bethlehem.

She said it’s a project-based learning student video contest that features school district teams that produce and explore careers in manufacturing from partners in the area.

Frank said it’s also a way for students to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.

The ninth annual contest featured 28 teams from school districts in Lehigh, Northampton, Monroe and Carbon counties and the Diocese of Allentown.

It was produced by the Manufacturers Resource Center in Allentown.
