Brooklyn driver dies in Lehigh crash

A Brooklyn, New York, driver was killed in a one-vehicle crash Tuesday in Lehigh County. State police at Fogelsville said the crash occurred at 1:35 a.m. along Interstate 78 westbound in Allentown.

Troopers said Emran Hossain, 23, was driving a 2015 Acura MDX westbound at about 85 mph during heavy rain. Hossain lost control with the vehicle striking the center concrete barrier. It then veered out of control at a high rate of speed across three lanes of travel and onto the shoulder where it struck guide rail. The vehicle continued over the guide rail and became airborne going down on railroad tracks. The vehicle traveled about 180 feet in the air before striking an embankment sideways of the driver’s side, where it came to rest.

Hossain and his passenger, Samiha Aladin, 20, also of Brooklyn, had to be extricated from the vehicle. Both were taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, where Hossain was pronounced dead. Aladin sustained minor injuries, troopers said.
