Easter flowers

The deadline for ordering Easter flowers at Zion Lutheran for Easter is Sunday.

Plants that can be ordered for a designated cost are lilies, tulips, hyacinths and daffodils.

One can also obtain one’s own plants and bring them to church.

Fill out a form for the dedication and submit that to the church.

Kunkletown bingo

St. Matthew’s UCC Christians in Action group is holding its last bingo for the season Sunday at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company in Kunkletown in support of the church’s outreach program and church repairs. Doors open at noon. Bingo begins at 1 p.m.

Concert ahead

The MJM7 Band will be at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church at 6 p.m. Sunday. No reservation is needed. A freewill donation will be accepted.

Polk meeting

Polk Township Supervisors are scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the township municipal building.

Vietnam Vets Day

A Vietnam Veterans Day ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Monroe County Courthouse square.

The ceremony will include an introduction, Presentation of the Colors, opening prayer, reading of names with a tolling of the bell, placement of a wreath as well as a rifle volley by the County Honor Guard.

Taps will then be played and a closing prayer offered.

Deadline close

The deadline for the Stanley Becker Memorial Scholarship, for a graduating senior who is planning on attending college and majoring in an environmental field, closes April 1.

To apply, students may print an application or apply online at www.mcconservation.org or call the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center at 570-629-3061.

Donations sought

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church is collecting candy donations for the next few weeks to stuff into Easter eggs for church and community for its Easter Eggstravaganza on April 9.

The request includes: preferably no chocolate as it can melt in the sun.

Breakfast ahead

McMichaels UMC is holding a donation-only breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. April 9.

Craft/vendor fair

The West End Volunteer Fire Company will hold a craft and vendor fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 9 at its primary site, 128 Route 715, Brodheadsville, (behind the Wawa).

Among the featured events and items are spring crafts, jewelry, soap, pet items and much more.

Wake-up time

The Garden of Giving, in McMichaels, is having its spring awakening on April 9, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a cleanup of accumulated debris and getting the raised beds in order.

Easter egg hunts

Cornerstone Community Church, at 3888 Polk Township Road, is hosting a free community egg hunt from 3 to 5 p.m. April 9.

Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, is hosting a free community Easter egg hunt at 12:30 p.m. Easter Sunday for children ages 0 through fifth grade.

Easter pageant

The youth of Effort UMC will be presenting “The Life of Jesus” Easter pageant on April 10, (Palm Sunday) during the 11 a.m. service.

It will be a re-enactment of Jesus’ birth up to his Death and Resurrection on the cross.

West End Soccer League registration is open for the fall season for children ages 4 to 17.
