A woman who overpaid herself by $20,351.93 when she worked as a treasurer for Coaldale Borough lost her county job Wednesday.
Schuylkill County commissioners fired Anissa M. Nunemacher, 50, of Coaldale, from her $56,641 a year job as a fiscal officer for the Children and Youth Services Agency.
She had been suspended since Nov. 30 in light of the Coaldale matter.
She was hired for the county job on June 16, 2021.
Commissioners Chairman Barron L. Hetherington, Commissioner George F. Halcovage Jr., and Commissioner Gary J. Hess all voted in favor of firing Nunemacher.
Nunemacher has repaid the borough $25,000 of the total $29,301.93 she owed. That included the cost of a financial audit. The remaining $4,301.93 was covered by the borough’s insurance.
The borough hired her for the part-time job in November 2015 at $16,350 a year. She overpaid herself beginning in 2015.
County Detective Edward Lizewski filed felony charges of theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception and receiving stolen property against Nunemacher on Nov. 12, 2021.
On March 11, County Judge Charles M. Miller accepted Nunemacher into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program.
ARD, which can be likened to probation without a verdict, is for those defendants who are typically first-time offenders who have committed a nonviolent crime. Entry into the program is not an admission of guilt, and defendants’ records may be cleared if they successfully complete the program.
