Students compete in 2022 Code Jam

DeSales University and professor Dr. Pranshu Gupta hosted Intermediate Units 20 and 21 for the 2022 Code Jam Competition. This contest is all about speed.

Whoever can solve the most programming/coding problems wins. Some are mathematical, others are technical. Teams are put under a two-hour time limit.

Students can only code in one of three languages: python, C++, or Java. What makes this competition so important for students is the pressure they’re under, and going up against other students they would otherwise not meet or learn from.

Nine teams came from seven high schools spanning Lehigh, Carbon, Pike and Northampton counties.

Represented schools were: Moravian Academy, Jim Thorpe, Emmaus, Nazareth, Panther Valley, Saucon Valley and Delaware Valley high schools.

Emmaus High School was the winner. Jim Thorpe’s team took third place.
