Area drivers were involved in crashes in Lehigh Valley and Berks County.
• State police at Bethlehem reported investigating a crash at 6:06 a.m. on March 7 along Cherryville Road in Allen Township, Northampton County. Troopers said Logan D. Knauss, 20, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup southbound and going down a hill when he lost control on the snow-covered road. The truck slid off the west side of the road and struck a utility pole with the front bumper.
Knauss was not injured. He was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 12:16 p.m. on Feb. 27 along Route 222 (Hamilton Boulevard), in Lower Macungie Township, Lehigh Valley. State police at Fogelsville said Michael Harned II, 64, of Bethlehem, operating a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban, was stopped for another vehicle making a left turn. Jillian Nichols, 22, of Kunkletown, driving a 2010 Nissan Rogue, was northbound and was distracted by texting and failed to see Nichols stopped. The front of the Rogue hit the rear of the Suburban.
Nichols had a suspected minor injury and was treated at the scene while Harned was not injured. The Rogue had to be towed.
Nichols was cited for prohibiting text-based communications.
• State police at Hamburg said Adriana Ortiz, 20, of Palmerton, was driving a 2016 Jeep Compass northbound on Grim Road in Greenwich Township, Berks County, at 9:57 p.m. Feb. 15 when she failed to negotiate a left curve in the road. The Jeep went onto the berm and struck a guide rail to a Med-Ed pole. The vehicle came to rest on the guide rail.
Ortiz was not injured.
