Police pick up wanted man, woman on disorderly charges

Tamaqua police have charged two people after an incident in the in the borough.

Jade Jean Belford, 36, of West Penn Pike, West Penn Township, has been charged with hindering apprehension, obstructing administration of law and disorderly conduct.

Christopher Lee Hill, 34, of North Railroad Street, Tamaqua, and also of 47 Mush Dahl Road, West Penn Township, has been charged with resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and flight to avoid apprehension. Both have been charged for an incident on Feb. 22 at 4:08 p.m. in the area of Market and Mauch Chunk streets.

Police said officers on patrol observed a man and woman leaving a home on the 100 block of Patterson Street.

From past encounters, police said Hill and Belford were always together. Police said Hill had an active warrant for his arrest issued out of Schuylkill County. As officers drove up Market Street to turn onto Patterson Street, they saw the two suspects.

Hill was told to stop but began to run west down Mauch Chunk Street with Belford running in front of him. Belford collided with one of the pursuing officers, who fell to the ground. Hill continued to run with officers in pursuit. Officers used a stun gun to finally stop Hill and take him into custody.

A EMS unit was dispatched to check out the officer that was run into and also check Hill for any injuries.

Hill was taken to the county prison on the warrant, with the other charges filed against Hill and Belford.
