Weissport plans to fix potholes
At the Weissport Borough Council meeting last week, council members addressed the need to fix potholes and take care of line painting within the borough.
“Last meeting we were talking about using some of the PLGIT and Liquid Fuels money,” Councilman Tom Ketchledge said. “With that in mind, we should go get a few dump truck loads of cold patch and, now that the weather is getting warmer, we can start patching some of these potholes that need fixing.”
Several areas needing repairs that were mentioned include a very deep hole near Mario’s, near the Fort Allen building, and on White Street.
Ketchledge also suggested that now is a good time to purchase paint to paint the curbs yellow, to paint around fire hydrants, and to do line painting at crosswalks.
“Once grass cutting season comes, we won’t have time to fix any of this,” Ketchledge advised the council.
The Municipal Liquid Fuels Program funds a range of projects to support construction, reconstruction, maintenance and repair of public roads or streets.
The Pennsylvania Local Government Investment Trust was created in 1981 to meet the short-term investment needs of local governments, school districts, municipal authorities, and other types of governments in the state.
“PLGIT sponsors several bond pools that enable members to borrow for a variety of purposes, including capital improvements, renovations, additions, refinancing of eligible tax-exempt debt, or equipment purchases that are a part of a larger construction project.”
