Monroe County crashes

State Police at Stroudsburg report on the following crashes:

• Patricia Pavlocak, 74, of Henryville, was injured in a one-vehicle crash in which she was a passenger of a vehicle that went out of control and overturned on Route 715 in Paradise Township at 3:16 p.m. Feb. 1.

Police said she sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported by the Pocono Mountain Regional Emergency Services personnel to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg.

Police said the vehicle, a 2000 GMC Jimmy, was driven by Stephen C. Wyatt, 68, of Henryville. Police said he was northbound and traveling down a hill, negotiating a left curve in the highway, when the vehicle drove over slush on the shoulder of the road, causing the driver to lost control. The vehicle spun counterclockwise and overturned.

Police said Wyatt was cited for the crash.

• James M. Ahern, 34, of Effort, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 2:46 p.m. Feb. 12 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township.

Police said the severity of his injuries is unknown. He was flown to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Salisbury Township.

Police said Ahern was driving a 2011 Nissan Juke that traveled off the left side of Route 209 and rolled over an undetermined amount of times before coming to rest in a wooded area 15-20 feet off the road.

The vehicle sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

Police said Ahern was cited for the crash.

• Two people from Stroudsburg, including a 4-year-old girl, sustained suspected minor injuries in a crash at 12:46 p.m. Jan. 31 at the intersection of Neyharts and Pensyl Creek Road in Hamilton Township.

Police said Carmen T. Martinez, 34, and the girl were treated at the scene by West End Ambulance personnel but were not transported to a medical center for further treatment.

Police said the incident involved two vehicles. They said Martinez was driving a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander on Neyharts Road and an unknown vehicle was traveling on Pensyl Creek Road.

Police said as Martinez was going straight, the unknown vehicle drove through the stop sign at Neyharts Road and attempted to turn left onto Pensyl Creek Road. After an impact, the unknown vehicle continued northbound on Pensyl Creek Road.

• Two people were injured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:43 p.m. Feb. 10 on the Seven Bridge Road in Smithfield Township.

Police said the severity of injuries sustained by Theodore A. Koller, 48, of Summit Hill, the driver, and passenger Doris J. Davis, 81, of East Stroudsburg, is unknown.

Police said Koller was operating a 2013 Ford wheelchair van northbound when it swerved onto the right shoulder of the road and came to rest.

Davis was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg, by Suburban EMS. Koller was not transported.

• A driver of a rig on Interstate 80 in Pocono Township was unable to avoid striking an object in the roadway, resulting in damage to the 2020 Freightliner Sprinter’s air brake hose.

The incident happened at 1:38 p.m. Feb. 8 when Jason E. Sims, 53, of Harrisburg, was westbound and merging lanes when it struck the object. Police said the object struck the undercarriage of the vehicle and caused disabling damages.

Sims was not injured.

• Caitlin M. Swartz, 28, of Cresco, was cited by state police at the Stroudsburg barracks with following too closely after a three-vehicle crash at 9:52 a.m. Feb. 11 at the intersection of Creek and Circle H roads in Price Township.

Police said he was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse that failed to stop and rear-ended a 2014 Chevrolet Spark operated by Shawna MacPherson, 20, of Canadensis, pushing it into a 2005 Silverado driven by Dennis Castellanos, 30, also of Canadensis. The Spark and Silverado were at complete stops behind a school bus that was stopped to pick up students, police said.

Police said the Traverse and Silverado sustained minor damages while the Spark was disabled in the south lane of traffic and needed to be towed.

Police said MacPherson was cited for required financial responsibility.

No one was injured in the incident.
