A Tamaqua man has been charged with selling methamphetamine.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officers Thomas Rodgers and Anthony Stanell of the Tamaqua Police Department in the case against Bruce Matalavage:
At 3:31 p.m. Nov. 11, a confidential informant arranged to buy an 8 ball (1/8 of an ounce) of methamphetamine for $150 from Matalavage, 62.
The informant agreed to meet Matalavage in the area of Burger King on Cedar Street.
An exchange was made between the informant and Matalavage next to the police patrol vehicle in the alley.
The informant then got back into the police patrol vehicle and handed Stanell a bag of suspected methamphetamine and explained that Matalavage said to come his house for the rest.
The informant went to Matalavage’s house and came back to the police patrol vehicle with a bag of suspected methamphetamine.
The substance was packaged, sealed and logged into evidence to be sent to the Pennsylvania State Police crime lab for further analysis.
Matalavage faces charges on four counts of possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; and two counts each of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and criminal use of communication facility.
He is incarcerated in the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $50,000 monetary bail and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Feb. 15 before District Judge Stephen J. Bayer of Tamaqua.
