Woman found guilty in homicide

A jury found Kimberly Riston guilty Jan. 26 of second-degree murder and other charges in the slaying of Donald Wethy of Missouri.

Riston, of Banning, California, had a trial Jan. 25 in Texas County. Judge John Beger presided.

Along with the murder charge, she was found guilty of two counts of armed criminal action, and one count each of robbery and tampering with a motor vehicle. Sentencing is set for 1 p.m. March 22 in Phelps County.

Tamaqua resident Josue Martinez has a trial date of July 11-14 in Pulaski County. A pretrial conference is set for 1 p.m. May 16. He is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and one count each of robbery and tampering with a motor vehicle.

Martinez and Banning in the death of Wethy, 36, of St. James, Missouri. Martinez allegedly stabbed Wethy and left his body in the parking lot of the Economy Inn. Both remain in the Phelps County Jail.
