Sledding accident

Amanda Butz, 51 Hawthorne Drive, Jim Thorpe, has filed a civil action against Tara Takacs-Benyo, 226 Center St., Jim Thorpe, over a sledding accident that occurred on Jan. 19, 2020.

According to the suit on the date stated the plaintiff and defendant were at a Cub Scout 138 Pack meeting that took place outside at Sam Miller Field, at 122 North Ave., Jim Thorpe. Following the meeting the boys in the troop, including a minor child of the plaintiff, began sledding nearby. The defendant also had a boy in the pack.

While the plaintiff was standing at the bottom of the hill where the sledding was taking place, and off to the side the defendant, while on a her sled, “violently crashed into the plaintiff, knocking her forcibly to the ground.” The suit claims the plaintiff suffered injuries which are detailed in the suit.

Negligence is alleged against the defendant and sought are damages not in excess of $50,000.

Mortgage foreclosures

The following actions were filed as mortgage foreclosures for alleged defaults on loans.

Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, c/o 211 N. Front St., Harrisburg, filed an action against Tracy Morris, 424 School St., Jim Thorpe, over property at that address. Sought is $23,764.71 and continuing interest.

Wilmington Savings Fund Society, c/o 3020 Old Ranch Parkway, Seal Beach, California, filed an action against Sean Maiden and Patricia Maiden, aka Patricia O’Mara, 25 Berry Lane, Jim Thorpe, over property at that address. Sought is $125,029.80 and continuing interest.

Credit defaults

The following actions were filed by credit card companies, or their collection agencies, for alleged defaults on credit card/loan accounts.

Capital One Bank, Glen Allen, Virginia, filed the following actions: Samantha K. Saragusa, 227 Coal St., Lehighton, seeking $4,290.22; Shawn Robinson, 81 Sunrise Lane, Albrightsville, seeking $4,343.62.

Citibank, Fort Washington, filed an action against Alex Sanabria, 120 Yellow Run Road, Jim Thorpe, seeking $9,816.66.

Midland Credit Management Inc., San Diego, California, filed the following actions: Kyle Wentz, 3270 Forest Inn Road, Palmerton, seeking $3,162.33; Kasey Parsons, 325 E. Abbott St., Lansford, seeking $1,719.08; Lawrence D. Yurick, 212 N. Eighth St., Lehighton, seeking $5,576.24; and Nicholas Pelo, 139 E. Hazard St., Summit Hill, seeking $1,713.06.

Cookie money

Girl Scouts In The Heart of Pennsylvania, 350 Hale Ave., Harrisburg, filed a civil action against Amanda L. Hottenstein, 25 Second St., Beaver Meadows, over payment for Girl Scout Cookies.

The suit states that the defendant’s minor child was registered with the Girl Scouts Troop in Beaver Meadows. On March 11, 2020, she executed a Cookie Program Family Agreement Form, which granted permission for the minor child to participate in the 2019-2020 Girl Scout product sale.

The suit states the defendant ordered 127 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies for $516. The agreement states that if unpaid accounts are sent for further collection efforts, the plaintiff is entitled to any all-related costs of collection efforts.

The plaintiff seeks damages for unpaid account not in excess of $50,000, an amount that requires submission to compulsory arbitration.
