Charges dropped against officer accused of assaulting girlfriend

Charges against an officer with the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department accused of assaulting his girlfriend have been dropped.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police Chief Chris Wagner said Jesse Bohrman has been placed on suspension.

“My understanding from the district attorney’s office is the case had been dropped due to both him and the other party not wishing to pursue the case.

“We still have an internal investigation that is ongoing, but my understanding is the criminal case has been withdrawn.”

Bohrman had faced charges of simple assault and harassment.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Michael Zaleskas of the Pennsylvania State Police Stroudsburg barracks:

At 2:15 a.m. Jan. 3, police were called to the 1600 block of Church Street, Coolbaugh Township, to assist Pocono Mountain Regional with a domestic disturbance.

Zaleskas interviewed a woman who said that Bohrmann, 31, was drunk and assaulted her.

Bohrman said the woman didn’t come home when she said she would. He texted her multiple times confirming that she would be back by that time, and that as it got later and realized she was not coming home when she said she would, that he decided to have something to drink and was intoxicated. Bohrman said that the victim eventually came home around 1 a.m. and he stated that he initiated a verbal argument, and that once the argument started, the victim became irate and started to attack him at the base of the steps.

Bohrman said that he did put his hands on her to try to restrain her and in doing so, suffered multiple scratches from her hitting him. Bohrman said that he did drag the victim outside and locked the door, because he did not want her in the house.

While interviewing Bohrman, Zaleskas saw multiple scratch marks on his body on the left side of his neck going toward his back; on his right arm; and across his chest and his left cheek area. Zaleskas also observed a blood blister and a gouge on his left index finger. A T-shirt that he had taken off before police arrived was ripped at the neck.

The victim was treated at the scene and transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono.
