Carbon County court

A Lehighton man was placed on probation in Carbon County court recently after previously entering guilty pleas in three pending criminal matters.

Nathan Michael Miller, 21, was placed on probation for a total of two years by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II on charges of theft of secondary metal; possession of a controlled substance; fleeing or attempting to elude police and driving while license is suspended, a summary offense.

On the theft charge, he was ordered to pay restitution of $1,250; on the fleeing charge, he was fined $500; and on the suspension count he was fined $500.

He was arrested on the theft charge on Nov. 19, 2018, by state police at Lehighton.

He was arrested on the drug charge on Sept. 2, 2020, by state police at Lehighton. In that case a felony 3 charge of criminal trespass was dropped in a plea deal with the district attorney’s office.

He was arrested on the fleeing and suspension charges on Dec. 16, 2019, by Beltzville State Park rangers.

He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and submit a DNA sample.

DUI charge

Dakota James Wentz, 24, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail on a driving under the influence of a controlled substance charge. He was also ordered to pay a fine $1,000, license suspended for a year and comply with all recommendations of his drug and alcohol evaluation.

He was arrested on March 27, 2019, by state police at Lehighton along Route 443 in Lehighton.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of over $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
