Local supporters

The group 1% for Nature has various West End members which are part of it, such as Kinsley’s ShopRite, Dunkelberger’s, Argot Hardware, Saylorsburg Lumber and Blue Ridge Winery.

The organization is celebrating its third year in business in Monroe County, with its purpose being to permanently preserve and enhance special places in the Pocono Mountains of Monroe County.

Municipalities and nonprofits are invited to apply for grants up to $2,500 in January 2022 to perform projects in Monroe County that preserve or connect people to nature. In January 2020 three grants were made for almost $2,100 for trail signage and a bike repair station along an on-road bike trail.

This year the funding pool will be $10,500. That is $3,000 more than in Jan. 2021. The program’s goal is to grow the capability to provide grants for larger projects every year.
