A well-known Palmerton dentist was sworn in to a borough council position by Mayor Peter Delich yesterday.

Howard Cyr, of 1032 Circle Drive, was given the oath of office in the mayor’s quarters.

He replaces longtime Councilman Kenneth Heiney, who resigned his seat late last month, citing health concerns. Heiney served on the council for nearly 30 years.

Cyr, who served on the council several times before, was hailed by Delich as “someone who always has the community at heart.”
