Historians to check Chestnuthill area

Chestnuthill Township supervisors will allow a few local historians to save and catalog any historical items prior to the upcoming demolition of the structures on the township’s recently purchased properties located at 715 and Effort Neola Road.

The motion was approved, but the township’s manager, David Albright, was clear the approval was only for the local historians, and that no one else was allowed in or near the structures, and any violators would be prosecuted.

The township purchased three properties that included 196.22 acres at the auction held for the Michael Vianello Estate and the township paid $610,000 for the property.

According to Albright, Chestnuthill Township received a grant in the amount of $130,000 from the Upper McMichael Creek Conservancy and has received a waiver of retroactivity from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources in order to apply for additional funding in the amount of $300,000.
