Lansford council reorganizes for 2022

Lansford Borough Council met for the first time since two new members and a new mayor took the oath of office.

Jennifer Staines and Jay Doyle each were elected to a four-year term in the November election. Mayor Hugh Vrablic also won a four-year term over incumbent Michele Bartek.

They were sworn in by the local magistrate last week along with Gwyneth Collevechio, who was re-elected to the seat she filled last year.

Bruce Markovich was reappointed president. John Turcmanovich was appointed vice president, and Gwyneth Collevechio, president pro tempore.

Vrablic said he is proud to represent the town where he grew up.

He works for an agency which provides housing for people with disabilities, and also serves as a visiting preacher for Presbyterian, Lutheran and UCC churches.

He said he would like to see a return of the sense of community that existed in the past.

He said residents can expect a mayor who is engaged in local issues.

“I’m hoping they expect someone who shows up, asks questions, and can help out whenever possible,” Vrablic said.

• Council accepted the resignation of Lacey Gonzalez-Horan, part-time.

• Council also appointed the borough solicitor, secretary-treasurer, engineer and code/zoning official to their positions.

• Meetings will take place the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. Committee meetings will take place the first Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m.
