State police release traffic enforcement information

The Pennsylvania State Police Troop M – Bethlehem have announced the results of the Thanksgiving Holiday Enforcement period from Nov. 24 through Sunday.

During the Thanksgiving Holiday Traffic Enforcement Period of 2021, Troop M (Lehigh County, Northampton County and Bucks County) Troopers investigated a total of 77 crashes, with 19 injuries. Five were alcohol-related. Police made 35 Driving Under the Influence arrests. The barracks reported no fatalities during this period.

There were 513 speeding violations, 5 child passenger citations, 30 seat belt violations and 692 other traffic citations.

Motorists are reminded there will be increased patrols as part of the continuing effort toward traffic safety throughout this holiday season and particularly during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday. When you see flashing lights, slow down and steer clear, it is the law.

Any driver of a motor vehicle who willfully fails or refuses to bring their vehicle to a stop, or who otherwise flees or attempts to elude a pursuing police officer, commits an offense, graded up to a felony of the 3rd degree, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison, a $15,000 fine, and restitution for damages and/or injuries sustained as a result of the pursuit.
