Palmerton Borough Council could soon address parking issues just south of the borough’s main thoroughfare.

Borough Manager Donna McGarry asked borough council on Thursday to consider no parking on the east side of Sixth Street, from Delaware Avenue to Lehigh Avenue.

“We’re running into a little bit of congestion on Sixth Street,” McGarry said.

After the meeting, McGarry explained the congestion is where the street intersects with Delaware and Lehigh avenues.

“With increased parking on Delaware Avenue for local businesses, there have been cars parked on both sides of this street, and it causes a slight congestion for traffic coming through,” she said.

“Particularly because of traffic entering Sixth Street from Delaware Avenue, this could cause a problem.”
