Yesterday marked the official beginning of a new era in Palmerton. An era in which the Palmerton Police Department, the mayor’s office, the office of the District Magistrate and the Carbon County Office on Aging are all together in one place. That place is the new Borough Municipal Services Building which was dedicated yesterday.

Built by the former New Jersey Zinc Company and renovated by the borough at a cost of $365,000, the building was donated to the borough in June by Horsehead Resource Development.

Its director of communications, Art George, said the building housed HRD’s administrative offices before it was donated to the borough.
