Consistent with the voting pattern throughout the nation, Carbon County voters went to the polls in large numbers Tuesday and favored Jimmy Carter, the Democratic presidential aspirant, over the Republican incumbent, President Gerald Ford.

According to complete unofficial returns received in the Election Board office in the Courthouse at Jim Thorpe, Carter received 10,764 votes to 8,837 for Ford.

The balloting also saw Thomas J. McCall, Summit Hill, successful in his candidacy for re-election to the House of Representatives in Harrisburg, defeating the GOP nominee and former assemblyman, Joseph Semanoff, Lehighton. McCall garnered 10,678 voted to 8,950 for Semanoff.
