Tamaqua police reported on the following incidents:

• On Oct. 8 at 3:06 a.m. police were called to Fegley’s Mart on Center Street for a suspicious man acting like he was under the influence.

Police said Thomas John Ferhat, 33, of Water Street, Cumbola, had a strong odor of alcohol and was incoherent.

He was charged with public drunkenness and transported to the county prison in Pottsville on the warrant.

• On Oct. 8 at around midnight, officers were dispatched to West Spruce Street for a report of an assault.

A woman told officers that Barbara Bankes, 55, of West Spruce Street, Tamaqua, walked outside of her apartment, pushed her to the ground and repeatedly punched her in the face and head.

A witness confirmed the incident.

The victim declined immediate medical attention but said she was going to the hospital to be checked out.

She had visible bruising on her face and scratches on her left knee.

Bankes was taken into custody and charged with harassment.

• On Oct. 8 officers responded to North Elizabeth Street and spoke with a man who said he and Jason Michael Reigel, 40, of North Elizabeth Street, had an argument.

He said Reigel spit on him and went inside his home.
